Out at The Wedding

  • $15.00
  • Director: Lee Friedlander
  • 2007, USA, 96 minutes

The follow-up feature from the producers and director of “Girl Play,” (and they met right here in the lobby of the Tower Theatre!) is another fantastic step forward in the world of female filmmaking and comedy-of-errors fun!

Deception rules the day when Alex can’t handle her fear of telling the truth to either her biracial airline pilot boyfriend, her soon-to-be-married sister, or any member of her dysfunctional family, especially her southern racist father (Mike Farrell from “M*A*S*H”).

Returning home to South Carolina with her gay best friend in tow, Alex is afraid to ruin the plans of her sister Jeannie’s perfect wedding.  Unfortunately, an offhand comment at the wedding has folks thinking Alex is gay!  Rather than confess that she’s really straight, Alex, in madcap fashion, tried to find a “real” lesbian (a hot one!) to pretend to be her girlfriend.

Secrets tumble, Alex fumbles, and sexuality rumbles at unexpected turns, all while the inexplicable power of family reveals its potential to help these people become closer.  This film is just plain funny!

Scheduled to Appear:  Everyone and director Lee Friedlander

Winner: Audience Award for Best Feature Film at the 2007 NewFest (New York) LGBT Film Festival

“You don't have to be queer to enjoy Out at the Wedding, a swirling Manhattan farce directed by Lee Friedlander (Girl Play, The 10 Rules)”.  - Michael Fox, KQED, San Francisco
