Our friends at here! TV bring us another smashing success as writer/director Jonah Markowitz (in a very highly accomplished feature debut) mixes sex and surf with an authentic love story set against a backdrop of family drama.
A year out of high school, Zach (played by hottie newcomer Trevor Wright) is stuck on the streets of San Pedro, working as a fry cook, skating, surfing, and stenciling guerrilla artwork on abandoned buildings. While also taking care of his adoring nephew Cody, he sets aside his artistic dreams of attending Cal Arts and can't seem to find much time for his on-again/off-again girlfriend Tori.
Enter Shaun (played by Brad Rowe from BILLY'S HOLLYWOOD SCREEN KISS), the openly gay older brother of Zach's best friend and a writer taking a break from Hollywood to recover from his own failed relationship. Hanging out as surf buddies, Zach enjoys the beer and Shaun's companionship, even while his sister voices her concerns over his behavior. "You're not a fag," she tells Zach, even as he and Shaun begin to sleep in each other's arms.
As Zach struggles to find his path and make sense of his feelings for Shaun, he is forced to choose between supporting his dysfunctional family and pursuing his own dreams.
Sensitive performances, a strong emo soundtrack, and plenty of guys in wetsuits carry this outstanding script to fruition, and you, too, will ride the electric waves of emotion and excitement with Zach and Shaun as they go searching for themselves and find each other.
